


Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Department

OUR HISTORY
In 1981, several local businessmen recognized the need for fire protection at local businesses and started the Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Department. The modest firehouse (three bays, an office, and two bathrooms) was built with donations from the community and funds raised by the Women's Fire Auxiliary. We now have 3 substations (located in Ocie, Isabella, and NN HWY) and the main fire station in town. Our trucks were obtained through grants or donations, and we dispatch to an average of 200+ calls per year.
OUR FINANCES
THE TAVFD RECEIVES NO TAX FUNDING. We are entirely funded by dues from YOU - the residents of the Theodosia Area. Your dues help us to serve our entire area. We run all of our operations on member dues, generous donations, fundraising, and grants to purchase equipment. We are able to provide service to ~128 square miles with the annual fire department dues. Our budget allocation is as follows:
